Ownership of Course Materials for Distance Education
INX College believes that student attendance in class is critical for the successful completion of its programs. Students who are absent for unspecified reasons will be contacted to ascertain the reason for their absence. Students who exhibit irregular attendance may cause their grades to decline and their continued enrollment at the College may be in jeopardy.
It is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed course work. Student attendance may be taken into consideration in assigning grades and students should be so informed.
Absences for more than ten percent of scheduled classes may result in failure, grade reduction, or other academic sanctions or disciplinary measures.
The student is responsible for supplying verification for the following excusable absences: personal illness or disabling injury, death in the family, family crisis or late start registration.
Tardiness or Early Leave – Coming habitually late to class or leaving early can be disruptive to all.
Therefore, if this becomes a chronic problem, the instructor has the right to mark a student absent for the whole period she/he enters late or leaves early.
Our goal is to prepare students for the business world, a community where punctuality is a key to success.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the function of an institution of higher education and are required to abide by the standards of academic honesty, ethics, and professional conduct. Students are professional trainees and representatives of INX College.
INX College takes pride in preparing students for positions in the professional community. Therefore, it is expected that students will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the highest educational and business standards.
Any student may be subject to suspension or expulsion for any conduct that violates the College’s policy or that may be, at the College’s discretion, detrimental to the College’s reputation. The administration does not need to give further reason.
Inappropriate behavior of any kind, including the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or evidence of cheating can lead to dismissal. Dismissal can be effected after only one such incident. The decision to dismiss a student will be that of the College.
The College shall not be under any liability for the expulsion; tuition of the student shall be refunded in accordance with the terms of the stated refund clause.
INX College is committed to preparing students to meet the highest standards of ethical and moral responsibility. All students are expected to observe standards of social conduct and courtesy and to wear appropriate attire.
The use of profanity, alcoholic beverages or drugs on College property is not permitted at any time. Each student is responsible for compliance with the rules and regulations contained on the documents on the INX College web page and in the Student Handbook. Failure to read and comply with the College rules and regulations does not relieve the student from liability.
Sanctions can result from any of the following offenses:
- Academic cheating or plagiarism
- Knowingly furnishing false information to the College
- Intentionally obstructing and/or forcibly preventing others from exercising their rights
- Failure to comply with directions of duly authorized and identified College officials acting in performance of their official duties
- Theft of or damage to College premises or property, or theft of or damage to property of any person on College premises
- Use of language or actions likely to provoke or encourage physical violence against any person on College premises or at a College sponsored or supervised function
- Smoking in College buildings at any time
- Use of and sale of unlawful drugs and/or alcoholic beverages on the grounds and/or facilities of the College – described in greater detail in the Student Handbook
- Gambling on College premises.
INX College expects that students will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the highest educational and business standards. To this end, the Student Conduct Code has been formulated pursuant to Article 129-A of the Education Law. The Code has been designed to protect the health and safety of the members of the College community and to maintain and protect property.

INX College has a clear policy regarding the ownership of course materials developed for distance education courses. The policy stipulates that the institution and content experts share joint ownership of course materials, unless content was created as a part of a separate online course development compensation agreement, in which case the content ownership is exclusive to the college. This policy is communicated to faculty and staff through various channels, including:
- Faculty and staff orientation sessions: New faculty and staff members undergo orientation sessions where institutional policies, including those related to intellectual property rights, are presented and discussed.
- Faculty and staff handbook: The institution’s handbook includes detailed information about intellectual property policies, ownership rights, and guidelines for the development and use of course materials.
- Online resources and documentation: The institution maintains online resources, such as intranet portals or learning management system (LMS) documentation, where faculty and staff can access information about institutional policies, including those related to intellectual property rights.
By disseminating information about the institution’s policy on ownership of course materials through these channels, we ensure that faculty and staff are aware of their rights and responsibilities regarding the development and use of course materials for distance education courses.
Program Materials and Communication of Support Services:
Clear Definitions and Guidance: Program materials, such as the student handbook, course syllabi, supplements, and the institution’s website, contain detailed information on how distance learners can access the various support services available. This includes contact information for service departments, hours of operation, and descriptions of how to utilize these services effectively.
Information on Accessing Administrative Services:
Program Materials: Detailed information on how to access admissions, registration, and other administrative services is included in program materials such as the college catalog, student handbook, and the institution’s official website. These materials would provide step-by-step instructions, deadlines, contact information for administrative offices, and FAQs to assist students through each process.
Information about orientation opportunities are communicated through email, the Elyon College website, and the learning management system. New students receive notifications about the dates, times, and how to access the orientation sessions.
Communication and Transparency:
The institution ensures transparency in how academic standards and requirements are maintained across delivery modes. This information is communicated through the institution’s official handbook, website, and orientation sessions for new students, clarifying any differences in the delivery or structure of the distance education program compared to the on-campus program.
Online library resources are available to students and faculty via the INX College Website via SkyCampus
INX College offers access to an extensive library and online resources, facilitating research and further learning opportunities for IDL students and faculty. This includes access to
INX College’s website and dedicated library website, alongside recommendations for supplemental online resources like Pearson Learning.
Nature of the Learning Experience:
The institution’s IDL (Interactive Distance Learning) program blends synchronous and asynchronous learning, providing a mix of real-time interactions via Zoom and self-paced learning through Canvas. This structure is clearly communicated to students through course syllabi, the college’s website, and orientation materials.
